At 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 7, the day before the racing starts,
Roy E. Disney's Morning Light boat and team will be docked at
the Balboa Yacht Club, 1801 Bayside Drive, Corona del Mar (949-
673- 3515).
The sailors will be available for photos, interviews and casual
conversation in an informal setting.
The 15 young sailors were selected from 538 applicants to race
their Transpac 52 in the Transpacific Yacht race to Hawaii in
July. The First Team Regatta will be their first serious
competition since they completed a four- month training program
in Hawaii. The skipper is Jeremy Wilmot of Australia, and the
crew includes Graham Brant-Zawadzki of Newport Beach, who
will graduate from Stanford this month.
Disney will not be present Thursday but will be on site during the
regatta.
Press/photo boat for the racing
For the three days of racing a boat will be provided for reporters
and photographers representing print
publications or the Internet. The boat will be departing from
Newport Harbor Yacht Club at 11 a.m. each day. NHYC (949-
673- 7730) is located on Balboa Island at 720 W. Bay Ave.
Lunch will be provided, and there will be free parking in the club
lot for those who identify themselves to the attendant.
For assistance with any of these arrangements, please contact
me.
